So, the legend is that the man who owns the land and a truck stop at the location placed the tower in his field outside of Groom Texas on a bet that he couldn’t get it to stay erect leaning so badly to the west as it does (but also as an eye catching feature for cars and trucks driving along Rt. 66).
Well, it’s stood for some time, and he won the bet. He painted his last name on the tower before putting it up. Just a cool roadside oddity you can see from Rt. 66.
