Originally built in 1882, legend has it an indian maiden bounded to her death from this bridge when she discovered her lover had been killed in battle. As a result, this swinging (but really more bouncy) is referred to as Lovers’ Leap Bridge.
Whether the story is true or an attempt to add legend, this bridge is an enginnering marvel at a 262 feet across and suspended 60 – 70 feet over the canyon.
We made it across without incident, but since the handrails are low, eyed each other suspiciously the whole way. Here’s some pictures and for more information (link).
