National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium

Although it has a cool exhibit on Mark Twain’s love of steamboats and a newer building dedicated to river ecology, The National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium located in Dubuque, Iowa, is more of an aquarium and a cool one at that.

The back water marsh exhibit is an open air, open tank, that allows you to view the animals up close in the water and on land. They have fish and turtles that we rarely see.
