Field of Dreams Movie Site

Twenty-two years after it’s release and nomination for Best Picture Academy Award, Field of Dreams can still dredge up feelings of longing for those many dreams unfulfilled. Along with Brian’s Song, it can still bring a tear to even the most brutish sports fan.

So the Field of Dreams Movie Site in Dyersville, Iowa is a mecca for baseball fans or anyone who longs to have a catch with his dad. The family who owns the property has restored it to its original movie appearance including the  chipped stone base paths and gateways of corn.

Unfortunately only the field is available for viewing with the house off limits to visitors as it is still a residence. The site was pretty interesting but would have been better if we would have remembered our gloves and ball to play catch.

Some pictures.

"People will come, Ray. They'll come to Iowa for reasons they can't even fathom. They'll turn into the driveway, not knowing for sure why they're doing it. They'll arrive at your door as innocent as children, longing for the past. 'Of course we won't mind if you have a look around,' you'll say. 'It's only twenty dollars per person.' They'll pass over the money without even thinking about it; for it is money they have, and peace they lack."

Can you see them? We can.

"This is my most special place in all the world, Ray. Once a place touches you like this, the wind nevers blows so cold again. You feel for it, like it was your child."
